Review: Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury Set Vol. 1 & 2

00:38:00

Recently almost every person and their mother has been obsessing over the rose gold trend. Lo and behold, Zoeva came up with not one, but two brush sets dedicated entirely to the rose gold hype; the Rose Golden Luxury Set Vol. 1 and 2. Almost everyone knows that Zoeva makeup brushes are the go to by many beauty gurus and makeup artists. So, me being the rose gold junkie (and easily influenced person) I am,  I was on the hunt for these makeup brushes.

The Rose Golden Luxury Brush Set retails for RM494.00 on Sephora Malaysia

Wait. WHAT. 500 bucks for 8 brushes?! What the hay?! Are you crAZY!?

Exactly my point. Thanks to instagram, I was able to purchase the brush set for RM100 each from @/makeupbyjenab. I know, it seems impossible that I found the brush set for almost 80% off and be real, right? Thing is, these brushes are the rejected factory sets. They are completely original, they just have minor defects on them (this is a given guarantee by Aimi, the owner). What that means is that the product did not tick all the essentials for mass distribution and has slight defects due to factory production. In this case, it was the handles of the brushes. Some of the handles have slight scratches, misprints or the prints were crooked. Honestly, I don't sweat the little details, because at the end of the day it's the brush application and performance that matters. Aimi, the owner of @/makeupbyjenab was such a sweetheart and I had such a smooth sail dealing with her, so do check out her instashop out because she is literally the cheapest Zoeva reject brush set seller out there.

Now for the review

Rose Golden Luxury Brush Set Vol. 1

This brush set is more towards face brushes. It comes with a total of 8 brushes, 5 for the face and 3 for the eyes.

It comes with

Face

106 Powder,
102 Silk Finish,
110 Face Shape,
127 Luxe Sheer Cheek,
142 Concealer Buffer

Eyes

227 Soft Definer,
231 Petit Crease,
317 Wing Liner

Rose Golden Luxury Brush Set Vol. 2

Now this brush set on the other hand, is more towards eye brushes. This too comes with a total of 8 brushes; 3 for the face and 5 for the eyes,

It comes with

Face

104 Buffer,
109 Luxe Face Paint,
126 Luxe Cheek Finish

Eyes:

226 Smudger,
228 Luxe Crease,
234 Luxe Smoky Shader,
317 Wing Liner,
322 Brow Line

Now these two brush sets are completely different, so there's no one to one comparison. The only brushes that are comparable though are the foundation application brushes; the 102 Silk Finish and the 104 Buffer

Between these two brushes, I personally prefer the 104 Buffer. In my opinion, it gives more coverage and is easier to use since it has a wider area coverage compared to the 102 Silk Finish.

Favourite Brushes:

  • 104 Buffer for foundation. Blends everything seamlessly and gives excellent coverage.
  • 109 Luxe Face Paint for contouring. Gives an ultra sharp contour with powder.
  • 126 Cheek Finish for bronzing. Applies bronzer like a dream.
  • 228 Luxe Crease for blending. Picks up product like a dream and blends everything perfectly.

Meh Brushes:

  • 106 Powder. It wasn't dense enough to do anything, really.
  • 317 Wing Liner took too much effort and was too long to apply gel eyeliner tbh.
  • 322 Brow Line was way too thick to fill in and shape the brows nicely, even for me!

So which one should you get? If you ask me, the Rose Golden Luxury Set Vol. 2 was more successful compared to the Vol. 1 mainly because even with less face brushes, they are more versatile and work very well. Also, you get all the basic eye brushes needed in anyone's makeup collection.

Before buying the brushes, I did a ton of research to find out which one was the best, but alhamdulillah (thank God) I was able to buy both, and write this review/comparison or whatever for those of you who are just like me! Hope this post helped you decide!

Love,
Taty
