When something's a routine, you often don't realise the fault of the execution or outcome of it. Both online and offline, we see many different ways that people express themselves through makeup and it's fine, really. You do you, girl. BUT, there are certain things that should never occur when you do your makeup. So, here are my top three things to rectify in everyone's makeup game to further strengthen the foundation (pun intended) of our beloved nation!

1. Wearing the wrong foundation shade

Always use the foundation shades that suits you at that very moment. Everyone makes this mistake, even successful beauty gurus on YouTube that probably wore their summer shade in spring, or whatever. Even for those living in a one-seasoned country like Malaysia, you should own a couple of different shades; one slightly lighter and one slightly darker. This is because we're exposed to so much sun that our skin tone changes up (darker or lighter) over time.

2. Skipping your skincare

Never ever skip your skincare! Every good painting needs a good canvas. Each time before you put on your makeup, cleanse and moisturise! If you have dry skin, it's essential to exfoliate beforehand so that your makeup won't cling onto or accentuate the dry areas. For both dry and oily skin, don't skip moisturiser. If you have very oily skin like yours truly, use an oil controlling moisturiser. My current go to is the Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser.

3. Over-tweezing the brows

Everyone has their own natural brow growth for a reason. When doing your own brows, make sure not too pluck too much. There's a very thin line between clean, groomed brows and unnatural brows. Embrace your natural brow shape, and clean it where must. Do note if you do continue to over pluck, your brows will thin out overtime.
