Flawless: Full Coverage Foundation

01:23:00

Not many of us are blessed with clear, blemish-free skin, including myself. Achieving flawless, full coverage foundation can be a little intimidating, especially when you're a beginner. A full coverage, flawless foundation routine is often heavy and uses a lot of product. If you're not into that life, then this isn't the post for you. But if you want to have that instagram ready, make other girls question their makeup skills kinda look, then read on, and get ready to beat the living day out of your face. Here are a few tips and tricks to make you look #flawless. (Btw, all products I'm showing are from the drugstore, so it's all budget friendly ^.^)

1. Cleanse Your Skin

Since I don't wear makeup on a daily basis, I don't clog my pores much from all the makeup I wear on the weekends, but if you are someone who wears makeup everyday for work or that's just you doin' you, make sure to cleanse your face properly! Before applying makeup, cleanse your face properly to remove any impurities or bacteria that could possibly clog your pores and cause breakouts.

2. Moisturise

Many people neglect the need for moisturiser in their skincare routine. Thing is, when you cleanse, you are drying out your face from its natural oils. Putting a thin layer of moisturiser can help add suppleness to your skin, make it look hydrated, and deter from skin looking dead and dry.

3. Prep That Skin

ALWAYS use a primer! A good primer can help take your makeup to the next level. Using a primer can give you a smooth base to start off with, let your foundation adhere better to your skin, and elongate the wear time of your foundation. Primer also acts as a barrier between your skin and the foundation, reducing clogged pores.

4. Obviously, Foundation

Obviously, the foundation you're looking for needs to be medium to full coverage. If you have oily skin, you'd probably prefer something more mattifying, but if you ask me, I am lovingggg that luminous skin life, so I prefer a foundation that has more of a semi-matte, luminous finish like the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. For drier skin, you'll find that dewy foundations will become your bestfriend. Avoid using a matte foundation because it can really accentuate dry patches, something that I'm sure you don't want.

5. Tools of the Trade

For more full coverage, I recommend using a brush instead of a sponge. My favourite trick is to buff the foundation in using an angled, rounded kabuki brush, then pat it in further into my skin using my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge. Invest in a good set of brushes, because the tools you use matter just as much as the products you use.

6. Conceal, Don't Feel

Oh, sue me for getting that stupid song stuck in my head. But seriously though, use concealer! If you have particular issues that you want to conceal completely, try out spot concealing, instead of blending out the product around your face. Using a lighter concealer on the other hand can act as a highlighter, applying the product at the areas you want to bring forward such as your forehead, nose, under the eyes, cupids bow, and chin.

7. Set That B*tch

You do not want to have your makeup creasing and melting at irregular places throughout the day, so take a bit of time to set all the liquid product with powder. Setting powders can come in either loose, pressed, tinted or translucent powders. Using a powder can help blur out your pores, making your skin look perfect, like an eggshell, like bruh have you seen the smoothness of an eggshell?

8. Chisel Them Cheeks

Contour! Probably my favourite part in my makeup routine, contouring and bronzing can bring more dimension to your face and avoid your face from looking two-dimensional aka flat af. Always contour in the right places according to your face shape, and please sweety, for the love of God, get a contour shade that suits you, so it won't look muddy.

9. Highlighter and Blusher

Finish off your look with highlighter and if you want, a blusher. Using highlighter can give your face a fresh glow, great to do after setting your face with all that powder that could probably make your face seem flat. Blusher is great if you feel that you're drained completely of colour. Using a natural looking blusher can make you look healthy and perfect the flawless base set out for those instagram-worthy selfies.

I absolutely love a full coverage base, just because I feel like I look like a baddie when I do so, hehe. Comment down below what your favourite step in your foundation routine is! Share your favourite products with me, and just maybe (aka if I have money lol) I'll check them out!

Lots of love,
Taty
