  This is honestly a long overdue post, but I thought it'd be appropriate if I took my time with the foundation to really figure out if I genuinely enjoy it or not. The first time it released, I was excited, as was everyone else. The crazy amount of hype around it honestly contributed to many having incredibly positive comments about the foundation, especially it being Rihanna's brand.

  Many on YouTube who have had negative things to say about this brand's product(s) have been met with negativity and hate, and honestly it just isn't fair. Everyone should be entitled to their own opinions, and I hope I won't be ostracised for mine.

  I've had this foundation for a little over a month, and after numerous wears in the hot weather that casts over Malaysia, I think I have a pretty good idea of what I enjoy (and don't) about this foundation.

  The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation retails for RM145 at Sephora. You get 32ml of product, which is slightly above the standard, and it's relatively cheaper to other foundations sold at Sephora as well. I got mine in the shade 330 Warm-Tan at Sephora Online .

PACKAGING

  I honestly dislike the packaging. I think the bottle feels very high end, especially with the frosted glass, but the pump itself is very messy, and mine has now a ring of foundation at the rim of the pump, as if the pump is faulty. It's a little upsetting as it does look cheap in that sense.

  The pump itself is a very basic pump, unlike the air-pumps you get with the Urban Decay All Nighter foundation that ensures you get every single ounce of your product out. The white cap itself also gets very dirty very quick, but it is easy to clean off.

PRODUCT

  What I definitely love about the foundation itself is the wide shade range that it has to accommodate to various skin tones, which is definitely a plus. The formula of the foundation is very watery, and it dries down super fast. To avoid having a patchy application, you really need to work in sections with the product.

  According to the website, they say to shake well before use to ensure the pigment is completely mixed in with the foundation as it does settle at the bottom of the bottle when left standing up right. They recommend one pump for medium coverage, and two for full coverage.

  On first application, it gives a very flawless finish, but it reacts differently with different primers. It doesn't seem to like silicone primers, as when I do use my NYX Photo Loving Primer, it seems to emphasise my pores. I've heard many BGs say that you can get by without setting the foundation with powder, but since it's so humid here, I suggest powdering anyways. At the end of my day (7 hours), I realise that even with powder, the foundation wears off very slightly, becomes patchy at my oily areas and will move around if I don't touch up quickly.

  It does feel light-weight on the skin, but I think it wouldn't be the best for dry skin as I do believe it is quite mattifying.

APPLICATION

  I really do think that the number of pumps correlated with the type of coverage you get is accurate. They also say for full coverage application use a brush, and a sponge for medium coverage. I haven't used the foundation with a brush, because I feel that it's so watery I'd lose more foundation compared to a sponge. A sponge application gives a skin-like matte finish that is very "your skin but better".

  Throughout everyone's makeup journey, you experience a lot of trial and error. Impulse buys, or being persuaded by a friend or acquaintance are factors to this.

  When I buy makeup, I usually go through a ton of consumer reviews through Makeup Alley or Sephora websites. when you don't have the cash to just throw around and buy every concealer that Beauty Gurus on YouTube recommend, you have a harder time trying to decide which concealer to get.

  So here today, I am introducing all of you to my concealer collection with a brief review below them that hopefully will help you in your decision making.

DRUGSTORE CONCEALERS

1. Revlon Colorstay Concealer (RM49.90)

  I bought this as an impulse, just to see if there is any other drugstore brand that can compete with Maybelline's concealers. I bought my concealer in the shade 04 Medium from Watsons for RM49.90.

  This concealer is honestly really underwhelming. When I saw that it was under the Colorstay line, I expected it to be just as good as the foundation, and it isn't. It has very light, slightly buildable coverage, but no matter how much you layer on, it'll just blend out to nothing. Also, I tried building it up, and it just ended up caking and creasing really badly.

  If you have nothing to conceal whatsoever, just want the slihtest bit of brightening, sure go for this. But if you have dark circles or veins under your eyes, this won't do shit for you.

Final rating: 4/10

2. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer (RM34.90)

  I'm sure everyone has heard how much people absolutely love this concealer on YouTube. If you watch Tati aka Glam Life Guru on YouTube, you'll see just how much she loves this concealer. It's also allegedly a dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape! Now that I can't vouch for, but as far as I know, it's a bomb-ass concnealer.

  I bought this concealer the week it was released in Malaysia at a Watsons in Kuching, Sarawak for RM34.90 in the shade Medium. This concealer is so good! It has great coverage, the formula is a dream to blend out, AND it's cheap. It's so good, I even got my mom hooked on it. This concealer starts of medium-full, but you can layer it to get a fuller coverage.

  The only issue I do have with this is that you only have 2 shades to choose from. Just make sure that you set your concealer to avoid creasing.

Final rating: 7.5/10

3. Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer (~RM30)
   The Maybelline Fit Me! line is great just so you all know, so don't be afraid of getting the foundation, concealer or powder.

  They don't sell this in Malaysia, but you can buy it through InstaShops. I bought this while I was in the UK for about RM30 in the shade 20 and 35. As you can see, also a cheap concealer. People love this for a reason, it gives you the formula, finish and coverage of a high end concealer for less than half the price!

  The shade range is fantastic, it is a medium coverage concealer, but very buildable. Easily blends out on the skin, and doesn't dry out the under-eye area. It's such a beautiful concealer, you could even use it as a foundation if you wanted to!

HIGH END CONCEALERS

1. Sephora Collection High Coverage Concealer (RM65)

  Okay, I don't know why people aren't raving about this concealer, because it is amazing! I bought this in-store for RM65.00 in the shade 31 Almond. This is such a full coverage concealer on first swipe, blends out beautifully, has a beautiful natural finish and a huge shade range for all skin tones.

  I honestly, truly don't know why there aren't people talking about this. I use this way more than my Nars Radiant Creamy concealer, and that should say something.

2. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (RM112)

  Anyone who knows makeup knows about this concealer. The Holy Grail of many, this concealer has received such a hype that if you don't own this concealer, you feel as though you have sinned in the beauty community. For RM112, it isn't exactly a quick decision to make. But, at the end I finally gave in and bought the shade Medium 2 Ginger, and I don't regret it one bit.

 It has a medium to full coverage, it builds beautifully and has a very natural finish that hydrates the under eye area. Because it is a more hydrating formula, for oily skin types, it tends to break apart after about 6-7 hours.

  But still, compared to the price point and formula of the Sephora High Coverage Concealer, I would choose the latter over the former.

3.  Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush-On Glow BB Highlighter (RM122)

  This is the most expensive concealer I own lmao. This shit was RM122! Thank God I had a RM60 coupon that made the concealer half off. No one really talks about this at all. Looking for reviews on YouTube was tough enough, but there were pretty good reviews on Makeup Alley.
 
  This is a more hydrating formula compared to the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, so the finish is slightly more on the dewy side. I love how luxe the packaging is, but what's hard is that if it finishes, you have no way of finiding out.

  It's a medium to full coverage concealer that is buildable, but it does oxidise slightly.  I got mine in the shade 3/4W Medium (Warm) which is the darkest shade available in Malaysia. What I don't like is that you need quite a bit of product to build it up to my desired coverage (which is of course full).

Final rating: 8/10

  As a self-proclaimed foundation junkie, I don't discriminate the product from the source. In this case, it is a high-end brand, but stick with me, it might just tickle your fancy. If you read my past post, you'll see that I hauled the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation. After about a month of playing with the foundation, I think I have a pretty good idea of the foundation; pros, cons and all that good stuff.


  I purchased my foundation in shade 7.0 from the Urban Decay store at Suria KLCC for RM155. First of all, the price point is pretty average for a high-end foundation. It isn't on the lower end of high end prices, but it isn't on the higher end of high end foundation prices either. If you ask me, I say splurge a bit for foundation since it's going directly on your skin, so I personally think the price point is acceptable.


PACKAGING

  Next, packaging. The packaging comes in a mirror-like plastic tube that comes with an air pump. The thing I enjoy about air pumps is that it ensures yo are getting as much product as you can get since it pushes the product upwards as you go on, so that's a plus for me. Definitely easier than a bottle without a pump, and it dispenses a good amount of product for each pump.

 The packaging isn't exactly heavy, or as high-end feeling as it looks, but if you're bringing it in your makeup bag, then that's a plus for you.

PRODUCT
 
  Now, to the actual product itself.  The shade range of the product is fantastic, it definitely caters to all skin tones out there, but because it is so pigmented it does oxidise a little, so when picking your foundation shade, just be careful and leave the swatch on for a few minutes to see if the shade is to your liking.

  One pump is all you need to cover your entire face, and be careful about how much product you use. If you use two pumps, it'll end up looking incredibly cakey and unattractive. (I learned that the hard way!). The finish is honestly beautiful, it's more towards skin-like than it is matte, which I personally enjoy instead of a flat matte surface.

  I believe that it is full coverage at first application, but if you're oily (like me), it tends to fade a bit even with setting powder and spray. It doesn't rub off entirely that it leaves a weird, discoloured patch on your face, but it doesn't hold up so well till the end of the day.

  As I am quite oily, I don't think it holds back oil as much as I'd like it to. By hour 6 it requires a powder touch up to keep my skin matte.  The only issue I have with this is that it does cling onto dry patches. So for the dry-skinned girls out there, this foundation is not for you.

APPLICATION
 
  For application, I personally prefer a Beauty Blender to a brush since it soaks up any excess product and doesn't leave it looking heavy. But, it is beautiful either way with a sponge or a brush. For an even fuller coverage, opt for a brush instead.
