Flawless: Fresh Face Makeup

22:00:00

I know, I know, Malaysia is hot and humid throughout the entire year, why would I bother writing about a makeup look that focuses on dewiness if dewiness is already naturally achieved? Thing is, I don't think our weather should limit us from trying out different looks, rather than sticking to matte looks only because nanti nampak melekit (later you'll look sticky and gross). So, today I'm gonna give you guys 5 tips on how to achieve a fresh face look for wherever you are in the world.

1. Let That Face Glow

Try switching out your matte foundation for something more luminous and dewy. If you're a cheapskate (like me) try adding a drop (depending on how dewy you want to look) of your favourite face oil into your matte foundation. Another option is to use an illuminating primer or moisturiser before your foundation, this'll let the glow peek through any foundation you use to give you a (actually sort of literally) lit-from-within glow. BUT if you are oily, and highly depend on a matte foundation, you can always achieve that bitchin' glow with highlighter. Live that dewy life and let that face glow, Glenn Coco!

2. Avoid Too Much Powder

That's basically a basic tip that everyone gives out to avoid cakeface but you want to cut back even more to achieve a fresh face look. Avoid putting too much powder around on your face other than to set your concealer under your eyes, this will let the other parts of your face look youthful and hydrated. Another option is to use a dewy setting spray if you don't want to compensate your powdering routine.

3. Less is More

For something fresh, going light with colours goes hand in hand with the look. Try sticking to earth or floral tones, without applying to much on using a light hand. Less pressure applied on your brush will let the product blend out naturally to match the dewy look. Compensate for the lack of action going on by filling in your brows (not too heavily though), eyeliner and a nude lipstick, or throw on a tinted lipgloss.

4. (Don't) Go Hard on the Highlighter

Even though we're going for a dewy look, putting too much highlighter can end up looking incredibly oily and unattractive. Try using a pearl or luminescent white highlighter to give an iridescent glow while still making you look fabulous. Use a light hand with your brush or use your fingers to melt the product on your high points.

5. You're Still Entitled to Sun

Bronze out your face by putting on a matte or highlighting bronzer. I suggest you to stay away from a shimmery bronzer like the Betty-Lou Manizer by the Balm and use the Hoola Bronzer by Benefit if you're not planning to glow all the way from space for the Gods, or you're just oily like myself. Give that face some sun-kissed glow! Once again, use a light hand when applying the product.

Extra tip, if you think you've gone too far with the highlight, take your powder brush, and lightly tap the areas you'd like to tone down.

A dewy, fresh faced look is all bout looking young, hydrated and lit-from-within. Try it out at home as a trial first if you're not used to that dewy life. Take your time, learn what suits you and what makes you, you.

Lots of love,
Taty
